Invariably, it does not make a difference to me! I am not a part of it. I have my own existence. So, why should I?
Apparently, rather unfortunately, this is what we inherently hold as a belief since birth. Most certainly, the existence of any living element on this earth is a gift of mother nature caused by its perfect cosmic engineering. Most of us may choose to believe that I am lucky, and I will surely make it this life! Let the so-called environmentalist take all the worries. A more comfortable bet, right?
It is an undeniable fact that our generations, rather this century has seen the most devastating catastrophise which the nature has started to roll out more like an early warning system. In the past 25 years, the world has witnessed the deadliest earthquakes to floods to tsunamis to hurricanes. We can still be there saying, I am safe. Why should I? People, honestly, this is unusual. The nature need not be so aggressive to cause a self-destruction!
At times I think, why god has made the earth with 70% water? Probably, he needs enough water to wash it off when he makes the final verdict.
Even, when we talk about growth and development using science and technology, in the larger sense, it has done more harm than the good. Who is the culprit here? Science and technology? Certainly not. It is the so called highly intellectual human race, who has exploited the power of science and technology for their self-centred motives closing their eyes to environmental deterioration. Worrying about the environment was never a choice for them.
Even we can think the same way. Why should I worry, as far as I am safe and enjoying free rights received to enjoy this nature? This is the questions we all need to ponder and answer at the earliest.
Yes. you and I have not created this beautiful nature. So, let us give that credit to god even if you are not a believer of him. With that faith, can we say that he has created this nature gifting us the right to use and enjoy it reasonably? Furthermore, with a condition that we should protect it and nurture it?
So, what do we do to achive this sense of respponsibilty?
People, this is a blessed life to have taken birth on this earth to be cause in healing the environment. Probably, there is a reason why we are here. The form (being human), infrastructure and the opportunities are equally available to all of us. What is missing probably is the realisable intent to choose to walk that path. Some insightful souls take steps to contribute and be the change catalyst for this noble cause.
People, we have a great opportunity being human to serve this nature to heal. We can really make a sense out of our lives that we have contributed to protecting our home. Our intent and necessary actions can do wonders. Earth will witness the efforts and make its own required corrections wherever necessary.
The need for ecological healing has become inevitable, so much so that, the increasingly decreasing ecological health pose a great threat to the existence of life. This is going to be the ‘Big Catch Up” as the situation worsens.
The famous quote says – “Earth is what we all have in common.” – Wendell Berry
This characteristic is what it makes imperative for all of us to
have a common goal to save this earth, save us. Earth is the only home. We must take care of it. Plant a tree even if it is your last deed!!
Let us take our first step! This is indeed an awakening call!
